RIDE SHARING PROGRAM
If you or a friend are experiencing limited mobility but still want to attend Sunday worship services, we encourage you to contact Ardel C. at the church office at (818) 243-2105 M-F, 10-5 or achristensen@glendalefirst.org to be added to our ride share list. Afterwards, you will be paired up and contacted to arrange for the ride details.
To support this, we are also asking for volunteers and collecting names for drivers willing to pick up someone who lives nearby. (Note, we will ask drivers for proof of auto insurance.) Our hope is this service will enable more people to attend worship services in person while providing opportunities to connect people together in meaningful ways.
There are also two local services that may benefit you:
GLENDALE DIAL-A-RIDE
This provides a point-to-point round-trip ride in an accessible van anywhere in Glendale, Montrose, La Crescenta, or La Canada Flintridge. This service is specifically for those 65 or older or anybody experiencing a mobility limitation (doctor certification required). To use this service, please complete a registration form by calling (818) 548-3960 or completing an online form. You will receive a confirmation in the mail when you are approved for the program. After that, you may request a ride up to two weeks in advance by calling (818) 247-0691. Each ride is $1.50 (exact change required), and an attendant may travel at no additional cost.
METRO MICRO
The service area that includes the church is currently Glendale (zip codes 91204 through 91206 only), Eagle Rock, Highland Park, and Silver Lake. There are other local service areas as well across Los Angeles. You may arrange a ride by calling (323) 466-3876 or using the Metro Micro app for any Apple or Android smart device. Metro is currently running a promotion in which the first two rides are free and $1 for each subsequent ride. Fares are paid with a TAP card or credit card (no cash). You may request rides up to seven days in advance.
